ABOUT THE LAB

SCIENCE GALLERY DUBLIN

In 2008, a forgotten corner of Trinity College Dublin was transformed into a living experiment called Science Gallery Dublin. Through a cutting-edge programme that ignites creativity and discovery where science and art collide, Science Gallery Dublin encourages young people to learn through their interests. The focus of the nonprofit gallery is on providing programmes and experiences that allow visitors to participate and facilitate social connections, always providing an element of surprise.

CHALLENGE

To develop mental health and well-being management with young people

Why this challenge?

Science Gallery Dublin chose to use co-creation to tackle mental health and well-being management in young people as we believe this is one of the biggest problems facing young people today. Research has shown that there has been a notable increase in anxiety and depression among young people. In Ireland, almost 20% of young people aged 19-24 and 15% of children aged 11-13 years have had a “mental health disorder”. Our pilot aimed to empower young people through co-creation and equip them with tools to manage their mental health and wellbeing.
