On September 20-21, 2019, thought leaders and innovators from the public sector in Germany and across the world will reunite at Berlin Humboldt University for two intense days of learning and mutual exchange on the topic of “Innovation in Public Administration”. TU Dortmund (TUDO) as a partner of the Creative Bureaucracy Festival will present the first insights of the SISCODE, a project funded by the European Union championing “Science with and for Society.” Jennifer Eckhardt and Eva Wascher, both from TU Dortmund, will organise a session on “Municipal social innovation labs” and will be joined by several German social innovation labs at the event (Social Innovation Center Hannover, Social Innovation Center Dortmund and WITI Innovation Lab Speyer).

The first Creative Bureaucracy Festival in September 2018 was a significant success: in a contagious spirit around 1200 participants from public administration and politics as well as representatives from more than 20 nations came together. 100+ sessions on innovation in public administration were held and more than 90 percent of the participants intended in coming back in 2019. The 2019 agenda now includes the first-ever International Forum of Government Innovation Agencies. There is also an international contest of Creative Public Administration Solutions and manifold workshops with inspiring practical examples.

This year, speakers include (among many others) Christian Bason, CEO of Danish Design Centre, Copenhagen, Denmark; Jesper Christiansen, Head of Strategy & Development, Innovation Skills, Nesta, London, United Kingdom and Angela Hanson, Innovation Specialist, Organisation of Economic Co-operation Development – Observatory of Public Sector Innovation, Paris, France.
