CO-DESIGN FOR SOCIETY IN INNOVATION AND SCIENCE

WHAT

SISCODE is a European funded research projects that explores the use of co-creation to integrate Society in Science and Innovation. Led by the Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI), the project will be carried out for a three-year period by a network of 17 partners from 13 European countries. SISCODE has been conceived as a connector that aims at (re)constructing the missing links between the strategic objectives (to make R&I more responsible), topics and communities, (domains of Science and Technology, group of stakeholders, citizens and society), and the activities (Research and Innovation) on the ground which are currently disconnected.

HOW

The project will gather and document 100 co-creation initiatives from Europe. 40 of these co-creation cases will be shortlisted and analysed to understand their dynamics and the level of integration of society. Finally, 15 of them will undergo an in-depth study using an innovation biography methodology to detect the barriers that lie in diverse cultural, societal and regulatory contexts.

What's new?

CO-CREATION LABS

The project has built a system of 10 co-creation laboratories throughout Europe to experiment with design-driven approaches to co-creation and draw knowledge from the interaction with real life experimentation. Each lab will partner with local actors to figure out new solutions for societal challenges and make them implementable. This experimentation will be the key to elicit knowledge needed to develop models of co-creation that are scalable and replicable.
